One day Brain Storming Session on “Policy for Rejuvenation & Conservation of Wetlands in Bihar” on 2nd February, 2020 at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa Samastipur (Bihar).
Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa Bihar organised one day Brain Storming Session entitled “Policy for Rejuvenation & Conservation of Wetlands in Bihar” on 2nd February, 2020 on the occasion of World Wetland day. During the inaugural speech, Chairman of this programme, Dr. R. C. Srivastava, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, RPCAU Pusa stated that wetlands are vital parts of the natural ecosystem. They serve an array of functions; include flood mitigation, erosion control, ground water recharge, micro- climate regulation and aesthetic enhancement of landscape. Good health of wetland is important for our overall economy, agriculture and well being. The contribution that wetland make to human well-being have often been overlooked or underappreciated. Therefore, a policy guideline is warranted in order to rejuvenate, restore and conserve the shrinking wetlands in Bihar. The Chief Guest of the programme, Sri Dipak Kumar Singh, IAS, Principal Secretary, Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Govt. of Bihar shared his experience and thanks to RPCAU for concern towards rejuvenation and conservation of wetland. Sri Surendra Singh, Director, Ecology, Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Govt. of Bihar, the Guest of Honour of the programme congratulate RPCAU for making draft policy for wetlands of Bihar. During technical session, a draft policy for rejuvenation & conservation of wetlands in Bihar was presented by RPCAU before the august delegates and a final copy of the policy will be made on the basis of discussion, which will be submitted to Government of Bihar.
