Sri Shashi Kumar of village Surhari (Dist. Gaya) was honored with the N.G. Ranga Farmers Award for Diversified Agriculture for the year 2008 for his contribution in the field of Honey Production. Sri Kumar, after graduating while searching a job, came in contact of Rajendra Agricultural University, Pusa and received a seven day training on bee keeping from this University. After completing the training, he started bee keeping enterprise on small scale with 10 boxes. Later on with the help of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gaya, he motivated some young farmers to join hands with him and formed a group. Now his group is exporting the processed honey to many countries and is earning in crores.
